The unifying theme for shop window displays in Pescia (Pistoia) at Christmas of 2012 was to decorate a chair. It was posed as a competition. The winner was the 16 year old daughter of the butcher.

The shop keepers were given the drawings as keepsakes and a calendar was made of the resulting pictures. The artist was obliged to sit out side in the street to capture most of the images. These were drawn with wax crayons as December in Tuscany that Christmas was damp, cold and dark. Not good for mixing oil or watercolour.

The artist’s favorites were three.

The outstandingly unusual, high fashion, on a classical dining chair by Giusti.

The most amusing and modern recycling of drift wood and other beach debris, created by mother and son on an abandoned metal chair frame. Gloria Mode (also an elegant clothes shop).

SpazioArte, an artists’s showroom. Dania Picchi used all her empty tubes of oil colour with great effect on a handsome leather folding chair.
